I'm on an assignment for my job to live in India. I tell my friends I'm "commuting" - 4 weeks in India, 2 weeks in the States to the office and to see my husband, another 4 weeks in India....and wanted to share what life is like in India. You'll also find additional blog entries along the left panel under Archives.
Traditions for speakers
On Thursday, I went with Nikita from the office to the College of Engineering Pune to give a presentation on John Deere. There is a tradition in India that when a speaker is introduced, they are given a bouquet of flowers and a handshake from a senior person at the location as a gesture to say Thank You for speaking. The lecture hall had around 100 individuals attending to listen to information about the company and types of jobs that John Deere has to offer. I talked on the history and products of the company and Nikita did a fantastic job talking about the India facilities and types of job positions. You'll also see a string of flowers underneath the auditorium sign to show that it is a festive activity taking place. To the right of the auditorium sign is an advertisement for the event and you'll see the John Deere logo on the sign mentioning we are helping to sponsor the event.
